We are excited to introduce to Respire Haiti. Respire Haiti's purpose is to encourage, empower and educate restaveks, orphans and vulnerable children.
Restavek is a French term that means child slave or domestic servant. Many children in Haiti are sent by their parents to be a restavek. Families feel that this is an option because of the lack of resources to care for the child. Respire Haiti saw this need and stepped in to help.
In 2011, Respire Haiti opened a school for these vulnerable children to receive education. Now in 2016 they have over 500 students and employ over 100 local Haitians. They also run a medical clinic that serves the families and children attending their school.
We are so excited to be partnering with this organization and share with you about all the amazing things they are doing. Watch this video for more information.
